What this is

This blog is a place where I put down my thoughts on what I do for a living - communicate.

I got the idea for doing this during my Marketing MSc that I was on during 2009/10. Everyone was blogging, saying something; and as I started to get deeper into communications (especially social communications on social networks), I thought it'd be a good idea to get involved.

I was also on the editorial team for the Student Direct newspaper, and realised I could actually write a decent piece every now and again. I started to participate in some pretty heavy tweetchats (#commschat in particular) around the same time, and I thought I needed a place like this to get my thoughts out in more than 140 characters.

As I moved back into the working world, it became a great vehicle for people to learn more about what I thought about the work I did, what my take on things was and what angle I was coming from. It was therapeutic at times, a place to rant at other times...it was just something that I wanted to do, and it's evolved into this collection of random thoughts and articles.

The posts on here have sometimes been spaced out, sometimes condensed together. Weekly, fortnightly, monthly...it's varied as I've had more and less to say at certain times. But it's not meant to be a newspaper or news site so I've never needed it to have that structure and schedule. It's just my thoughts on comms. Nothing more or less.

Get in touch with your thoughts, it'd be great to hear from you.
